Wild Things sign experienced middle infielder
The Wild Things have signed an infielder with nine years of professional baseball experience.
Washington signed Jeudy Valdez, a 25-year-old from the Dominican Republic, who spent eight seasons in the San Diego Padres system and one with the Chicago Cubs. Valdez has played three seasons and 311 career games at the Class AA level. Valdez was on the Padres’ 40-man roster as recently as 2013 and played in the prestigious Arizona Fall League.
Valdez’s best season was in 2011 while playing for Lake Elsinore in the Class A California League. He hit .295 with 37 doubles, 15 home runs and drove in 92 runs. Valdez has more than half of his 802 career professional games at shortstop and 292 games at second base.
