California remained alive at the PSAC tournament in Quakertown by winning two elimination games Friday, 6-0 over Indiana and 6-1 over Bloomsburg.
Jacquelyn Fowler hit a grand slam and Alex Sagl pitched a one-hitter against Bloomsburg. Fowler’s big hit came with Cal leading 2-1 in the sixth inning. Sagl struck out seven and did not walk a batter.
Sagl began the day with a three-hit shutout against Indiana. Erica Vallecorsa drove in three runs.
The Vulcans will play West Chester in another elimination game today at 11 a.m.
• Defending champion Washington & Jefferson was eliminated from the PAC tournament Friday with a pair of close losses, 8-7 to Thomas More and 5-2 to Saint Vincent.
The Presidents end the season with an 18-18 record.
W&J led 7-5 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh against Thomas More, but a bases-loaded walk and a two-run single sent the second-seeded Saints to the walk-off victory.
In the tournament’s first elimination game, Saint Vincent broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the top of the fifth inning and added single runs in each of the next two innings.
Jen Bahm and Chalese Wilson each homered for W&J against Thomas More. Wilson’s solo homer in the fourth inning gave W&J a 4-1 lead and Bahm’s blast put the Presidents up 7-5 in the fifth.
W&J’s Rachel Marx was 2-for-2 with a double and run against Saint Vincent.
