Heavy rains that moved through the area on Monday afternoon forced the WPIAL to postpone a number of baseball and softball playoff games involving local teams.
In boys Class A baseball, Carmichaels’ quarterfinal game against Greensburg Central Catholic at Washington & Jefferson’s Ross Memorial Field was postponed. The day of the game was not only moved, but so was the site and time.
The game will now be played at Latrobe at 6:30 p.m.
Canon-McMillan’s Class AAAA softball quarterfinal game against North Allegheny was rescheduled for 5 p.m. at Baldwin. The game had been scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday at the same site.
The same could not be said for Chartiers-Houston and Monessen’s Class A quarterfinal game at Fairhaven Park. That game, originally scheduled for 4 p.m. on Monday, will now be played at 4 p.m. today at the North Strabane Intermediate School.
In other regularly scheduled playoff games, South Fayette will play Belle Vernon at California University at 4 p.m. with Trinity and West Allegheny following at 6 p.m. in Class AAA softball, while Carmichaels will face Mohawk at 4 p.m. at Fairhaven in a Class AA softball quarterfinal.
