Normal holds off Things
NORMAL, Ill. – Kyle Helisek allowed two first-inning runs and Normal scored two more times in the seventh, holding off Washington, 4-3, in a Frontier League game Saturday.
C.J. Beatty had a double and a two-run homer in the eighth inning, but it wasn’t enough as Washington fell to 1-7. Beatty drove in two runs and scored twice for the Wild Things.
Kevin Brahney got the victory for Normal (5-3), alllowing one earned run in six innings.
Kevin Jeffries pitched the final three innings to earn the save for the CornBelters.
Cameron Monger, Santiago Chirino and Dylan Kelly had two hits apiece for the winners.
