Charleroi, SF knocked out of PIAA postseason
ALTOONA – Loyalsock Township scored just one goal but that was all it would need as it shut out Charleroi, 1-0, in the quarterfinals of the PIAA Class A playoffs at Mansion Park Stadium in Altoona.
It marked just the second time this season that the Cougars, who finish their season at 18-3-2, were shut out. Greensburg Central Catholic shut out Charleroi, 1-0, in the WPIAL championship game.
Loyalsock will face Karns City, which defeated Greensburg Central Catholic Saturday, in next Tuesday’s state semifinals.
Susquehannock 1, South Fayette 0: Susquehannock scored the game’s lone goal in the second half, knocking off WPIAL champion South Fayette, 1-0, in a PIAA Class AA boys quarterfinal playoff game.
Susquehannock has now outscored its opponents 4-0 in the PIAA playoffs It will face South Park, a 2-0 winner over Mars Saturday, in Tuesday’s semifinals.
South Fayette, which defeated the Planets 3-2 in the WPIAL championship, finishes its season at 19-4.
