W&J’s Toohey named PAC Soccer Player of Year
After setting the Washington & Jefferson single-season records for goals and points, sophomore Jordan Toohey was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Year, as voted on by the league’s coaches.
A Mt. Pleasant native, Toohey scored 27 goals and had 61 points. She is the fourth W&J player to earn PAC Player fo the Year honors, joining W&J Hall of Famer Nicole (Bosley) Bednarski (2000), Jackie Foltz (2008) and Holly Shipley (2011, 2013).
In her first season with the Presidents, Toohey scored in 14 of W&J’s 18 matches, with 11 in a row at one point. She had four hat tricks, including a pair of four-goal efforts, and scored multiple goals seven times. Through matches Nov. 8, she was tied for first among all NCAA Division III women’s soccer players with nine game-winning goals and ranked fourth in total goals.
Four other Presidents received All-PAC honors as sophomore Tatiana Ruzzini joined Toohey on the first team, and sophomore Josie Madden and freshman Nicole Walters were included on the second team and senior Abigail Deluliis received honorable mention.
Senior forward Karleigh Murphy of Waynesburg was voted to the second team.
