CALIFORNIA – Bloomsburg’s Christian Mortellite scored a game-high 26 points and was 10-for-10 at the free-throw line Sunday as the Huskies held off a second-half charge and defeated California 81-75 in a PSAC game at the Convocation Center.

Bloomsburg (2-0, 3-1) forged a 19-point lead with five minutes left in the first half before California (1-2, 1-4) began chipping away at the deficit. The Vulcans closed to within 16 at halftime and used a 14-4 run in the second half to close to within 58-50 with just under eight minutes to play.

Cal closed to within 64-59 on a layup by sophomore Luka Anjusic with four minutes remaining, but that was as close as the Vulcans could get. Bloomsburg made 10 consecutive free throws down the stretch and were 30 of 37 at the foul line for the game.

Anjusic led California with 18 points. The Vulcans had four players in double figures as Richard Smith scored 13 points and had a team-high eight rebounds, Cordell Smith had 12 points and Tony Richardson 10.
