Boys soccer: Jordan’s goal in OT continues Bentworth’s title drive

Levi Jordan made a dash through the Monessen defense and continued Bentworth’s push for the Section 4-A championship by scoring an unassisted goal in the first overtime Thursday night, giving the Bearcats a 2-1 victory on their home field.

Jordan’s game-winning goal came with two minutes left in the first overtime.

Jake Davis scored in regulation for Bentworth (8-1, 9-3-2). Goalkeeper Will Bashioum made eight saves. The Bearcats hold a one-game lead over second-place Charleroi, which defeated Geibel Catholic, 4-0.

• Logan Brinsky’s goal early in the second half broke a scoreless tie as Peters Township edged Upper St. Clair, 1-0, in a key Section 5-AAA boys soccer match Thursday night.

Justin Gamble stopped four shots as PT (6-2-1, 9-3-2) moved ahead of Upper St. Clair (6-3, 8-5-1) into second place in the section.

• Aaron Harris had three goals as McGuffey defeated Waynesburg, 4-0, in a Section 6-AA match.

Nate Stoudt also scored for McGuffey (8-2, 8-5), while Nic Loughman recorded the shutout.

Wayneburg is 3-6-1, 4-7-2.

• Luke Maher scored two goals and assisted on another as Section 5-AAA leader Canon-McMillan snapped a two-game losing streak with a 3-0 victory over visiting Moon.

Nick Sodini scored a second-half goal as the Big Macs (7-2, 11-2) pulled away after leading 1-0 at halftime. Goalkeeper Christian Snatchko had C-M’s fifth shutout.

Moon is 1-7-1 in section and 3-9-2 overall.

• Chris Stack scored three goals to power Section 3-A co-leader Seton-LaSalle to a 5-1 victory over host Chartiers-Houston.

Seton-La Salle (8-2, 9-4) extended its winning streak to six games. Austin Riggle scored the lone goal for Chartiers-Houston (1-9, 2-11-2).

• Four different players scored goals as Beth-Center defeated Washington, 4-1, in a Section 4-A match.

Bailey Bauer, Cameron King, Andrew Lacy and Ian Wolfe scored for the Bulldogs (6-4, 7-6).

Max Dragich scored for the Prexies (1-10, 1-11).
