McLaughlin, Blue Devils knock off Southmoreland
BURGETTSTOWN – Brad McLaughlin had a hand in all four Burgettstown touchdowns as the Blue Devils thrust themselves into the heart of the Interstate Conference playoff race with a 30-10 victory over Southmoreland Saturday in a high school football game.
McLaughlin returned an interception for a score on Southmoreland’s first play from scrimmage, threw two touchdown passes and ran for another as the Blue Devils (3-2, 3-3) moved into a three-way tie with McGuffey and Derry for third place in the conference standings. Burgettstown is at McGuffey next Friday and hosts Derry the following week.
McLaughlin completed 10 of 20 passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns, one each to Brandon Sell and Jacob Shipley.
Shipley caught six passes for 172 yards.
Jaden Dax had 188 yards rushing and a touchdown on 34 carries for Southmoreland (2-3, 2-4).
