Rohanna misses cut
Rachel Rohanna’s quest to finish in the top 10 on the Symetra Tour’s money list – and earn a LPGA Tour card for 2016 – will go to the final tournament of the season.
Rohanna, of Waynesburg, went into the weekend 10th on the Symetra money list but missed the cut by one stroke Saturday in the IOA Golf Classic in Longwood, Fla. Rohanna shot 3-over-par 74 in her second round, which included two double bogeys, five birdies and a costly bogey on the next-to-last hole.
The tournament was won Sunday by American Julie Stoelting, who shot 12-under to for her second consecutive victory. Stoelting is a nonmember of the Symetra Tour after struggling on the LPGA Tour. Her earnings do not count on the money list.
August James of Canada, who was No. 9 on the money list entering the weekend, finished tied for 48th place. Haruka Morita-Wanyaoula of China was the player directly behind Rohanna on the money list at No. 11. She had a strong tournament and finished in a tie for 16th. One player who could make a big move on the money list is Brianna Do, who entered the tournament 18th in earnings and finished in second place behind Stoelting.
After next weekend’s season-ending Symetra Tour Championship, which will be played on the LPGA International Jones Course in Daytona, Fla., the top 10 golfers on the money list will receive LPGA Tour cards. If Rohanna finishes outside of the top 10, then she can still earn an LPGA Tour card. She has at least clinched a spot in the final round of the LPGA’s qualifying school next month.
