Charleroi boys fall to Avonworth in soccer playoffs

Hat tricks by Griffin Geppert and Cole Pappas spurred fourth-seeded Avonworth to a 8-0 victory over Charleroi in a WPIAL Class A first round match played at Canon-McMillan’s Memorial Stadium.

John Oddo put the Antelopes (13-3-3) ahead in the eighth minute. Five minutes later, Geppert scored his first, followed 20 seconds later by a goal from Pappas to put Avonworth up 3-0. Pappas’ second put the Antelopes up by four at halftime.

Andrew Righetti also scored for the Antelopes.

Charleroi’s season ends with a 13-4-0 record.
