NEW YORK (AP) – Mount St. Mary’s, which returns two all-conference players from last season, was a solid preseason No. 1 pick among the Northeast Conference’s coaches.

The Mountaineers welcome back junior guard BK Ashe and senior forward Gregory Graves, both selected to the all-conference team in 2014-15. They received six of the 10 first-place votes in the coaches’ poll which was released Tuesday.

Defending NEC champion Robert Morris was second with three first-place votes, two more than Bryant.

LIU Brooklyn was picked fourth followed by 2014-15 regular season champion St. Francis Brooklyn, Wagner, Sacred Heart, Saint Francis, University, Fairleigh Dickinson and Central Connecticut.

The NEC’s coaches have managed to correctly forecast the eventual league champion only twice in the last 16 years. Over the last 28 years, the coaches have proven accurate four times.

Ashe and Graves were selected to the preseason all-conference team along with Robert Morris senior guard Rodney Pryor, Bryant junior forward Dan Garvin and sophomore guard Cane Broome of Sacred Heart.
