Hughes throws for 3 scores in Bentworth victory

ELLSWORTH – Josh Hughes passed for 147 yards and three touchowns, Riordan Tush returned an interception 81 yards for a score and Bentworth opened the season with a 34-14 win over visiting Carmichaels Friday night in the Tri-County South Conference.
Hughes threw TD passes of 18 yards to Ty Mitchell, 10 yards to Noah Peternel and 20 yards to Marquez Bentley. Hughes completed 11 of 17 passes. Peternel caught sevne passes for 93 yards to lead Bentworth, which led 14-0 at halftime. Ethan Tush rushed for 87 yards on 20 carries.
Carmichaels’ David Morgan threw a 5-yard TD pass to Cody Brown and Johnny Christopher returned a kickoff 80 yards for a score.
