Girls soccer: James & Ferrari combine for seven goals to pace C-H

Erin James and Alyson Ferrari combined for seven goals to help Chartiers-Houston complete a come-from-behind 7-4 victory over Monessen in a Section 2-A match Wednesday night.

James had four goals and Ferrari had three for the Bucs (1-0, 1-2), who trailed 2-0 at halftime. Alyssa Williams scored two goals for the Greyhounds (0-1, 0-1).

• Despite firing 27 shots, Charleroi could not get the decisive goal in a 1-1 draw against South Allegheny in a Section 4-A match.

Kaitlyn Riley gave the Cougars (0-0-1, 1-1-1) the early lead on a goal off a corner kick from Morgan Riley. Amber Brownfield tied it for South Allegheny (0-0-1, 1-0-1) with a goal later in the first half.

• Madison Clayton scored three goals to lift Wayneburg over Elizabeth Forward, 3-0, in a Section 4-AA match.

All three of her goals came in the first half and Clayton now has five goals in two games for the Raiders (1-0, 2-0). Josie Evans stopped six shots to earn the shutout. The Warriors (0-1, 0-2) have not scored a goal in two matches this season.

• Tori Cicci and Miranda VanKirk both scored three goals in Bentworth’s 10-0 victory over Geibel Catholic in a Section 2-A match.

Bea Kossel, Cande Kossel, Caitlin Marton and Danielle Gondak also scored for the Bearcats (1-0, 1-2). The Gators (0-1, 0-1) have not beaten Bentworth since 2007.

• Three different players scored three goals as Canon-McMillan defeated Trinity, 17-0, in a Section 4-AAA match.

Sabrina Bryan, Allie Thomas and Aideen O’Donoghue each had a hat trick for the Big Macs (1-0, 3-0). Cheyenne Trest and Madison Whipple had two goals. Ashlyn Whipple, Jess Cadez, Sydney Sndyer and Emily Clopp also scored to help Megan Virgin secure the shutout. The Hillers are 0-1 in the section and 0-2 overall.
