C-H cruises to first win of the season
MIDLAND – Junior quarterback T.J. Johnston threw four touchdowns to four different players as Chartiers-Houston beat Western Beaver, 47-6, in a non-conference game.
Johnston, a first-year starter, had touchdown passes of 39, 56, 44 and 25 yards, completing 8 of 10 passes for 222 yards. The Bucs (0-2, 1-2) earned their first win of the season, led 33-0 at the half and scored in four different ways. Cody Scears returned an interception 29 yards for a score, Tyrone Wormsley had a 86-yard kickoff return for their first points of the third quarter and Spencer Terling ran for 81 yards with an 8-yard touchdown. Wormsley also had a 44-yard touchdown catch and an interception.
The Golden Beavers (0-2, 0-3) finished with just 170 total yards, had three turnovers and their only points came in the fourth quarter when Brett Gainley ran for a 1-yard touchdown, but they scord their first points of the season.
