Baseball: Resnik pitches Waynesburg past Bethany
Burgettstown graduate Brian Resnik threw a six-hitter with six strikeouts in the opener, and two pitchers limited Bethany to six hits in the nightcap, as Waynesburg swept a PAC doubleheader, 5-1 and 5-4, Wednesday in Greene County.
• Washington & Jefferson swept a PAC doubleheader against Westminster, 1-0 and 9-3.
Jonathon Kletzli and Tyler Reis each had two hits, including a double, to back Resnik in the opener for the Yellow Jackets (2-3, 4-15). Fort Cherry graduate Matt Shaffer had a pair of hits for Bethany (3-4, 6-12).
Starter Luke Carter and winning pitcher Derek Whalen combined on the six-hitter in the second game. Ben Miller tripled and Eli Kucherawy doubled for Waynesburg.

Pitchers Bryce Schnatterly and Derek Helbing combined on a four-hit shutout in the opener. Michael Ruffing scored on an error for the lone run for W&J (5-3, 10-7). Kyle Borton was the hard-luck losing pitcher, allowing just two hits for Westminster (0-8, 2-18).
Nick Benter had two doubles and drove in four in the second game to back the winning pitching of Riley Groves. Canon-McMillan graduate Frank Fortunato had a double for the Presidents.
