Baseball Roundup: Canon-Mac beats Carrick, Bentworth overpowers Mapletown
Matt Mish drove in four runs and Canon-McMillan used an eight-run fourth-inning to secure a 16-1 win over Carrick in a Sectoin 5-AAAA game at Consol Energy Park Tuesday night.
Mish earned the win by striking out six and allowing only two hits, while Tim Marra drove in three runs and the top three players in the batting order each scored three runs for the Big Macs (2-1, 5-3). Jordan Castelli, Tanner Piechinck and Nick Serafino all had two RBI. Carrick is 0-4 in section play.
• Laurel Highlands scattered 14 hits and used a five-run first inning to cruise to an 11-1 five-inning Section 4-AAA game.
Zach Uhazie earned the win with six strikeouts while Troy Kifer had three hits with two RBI and Chad Pillar hit a two-run homer for the Mustangs (4-0, 6-1). Jordan Zilka had two hits and an RBI for the Leopards (2-1, 5-1).
• Jake Maimore and Taylor Bunner combined for seven RBI to power Bentworth to a 13-3 five-inning win over Mapetown in a Section 1-A game.
Bunner had a double, single and drove in four runs and Maimore had a double and three rBI for the Bearcats (2-0, 4-2). Hunter Neely struck out six.
Garett Kiger doubled for the Maples.
