Baseball: Ringgold rally falls short against West Mifflin
Ringgold made it interesting in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday but West Mifflin held on to defeat the host Rams 6-4 in a Section 4-AAA game.
West Mifflin (4-4, 4-5-1) scored in each of the first five innings and took a 6-1 lead into the bottom fo the seventh. Ringgold (2-6, 3-8), however scored three runs on three hits and two West Mifflin errors. The Rams were able to get the potential tying run to the plate before the Titans recorded the final out.
Koby Bubash had a double and two of Ringgold’s nine hits. West Mifflin had only five hits off three Ringgold pitchers. The Rams had five errors, leading to three unearned runs for West Mifflin.
• Justin Francona hit a solo home run in the first inning and RJ Debo struck out 10 as New Brighton defeated Fort Cherry 6-2 in a Section 1-AA game.
Kyle Bowland also doubled for the Lions (5-2, 5-4). Anthony Campena had an RBI single for the Rangers (2-4, 5-5).
