The series begins Friday (5:30 p.m.) with Los Mochis, Sinalola, the Mexico Zone champion, playing Caribbean Zone winner Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Following opening ceremonies, Chesterfield, Va., which won the East Zone, will play Johnstown at 8 p.m. Johnstown defeated Peters Township 12-1 in the Host Area title game played in McCandless Township.
First-round plays continues Saturday when North Zone champion Bay County (White), Mich., plays the South representative, Laredo, Texas, at noon. Laredo won the world series in 2011.
