Famed Ohio high school program faces penalties for recruiting
ASSILLON, Ohio (AP) – One of Ohio’s most decorated high school football programs is being penalized over alleged recruiting violations.
The Ohio High School Athletic Association has ruled that one of Massillon Washington’s top players will be ineligible to play in the upcoming season.
It also says Massillon coach Nate Moore will be banned from coaching in the playoffs if the team makes it.
The school also was fined $5,000 and put on probation three years this past week.
The penalties stem over the transfer of a player Moore had coached when he was at Cincinnati La Salle High School.
Massillon’s superintendent tells The Independent (http://bit.ly/2brYlSc ) newspaper that the school follows the rules and wants to clear its name. He says the district has already talked with attorneys.
