Augie Gallardo pitched six strong innings and the Traverse City Beach Bums snapped a three-game winning streak by the Washington Wild Things with a 6-1 win in a Frontier League game Wednesday.

Gallardo struck out eight, gave up three hits and the one earned run for Traverse City. Giancarlo Burgnoni’s two-run home run in the second, his 10th of the year, was all the scoring needed by the Beach Bums. Kendall Patrick drove in two runs. The Beach Bums bullpen pitched three innings of 1-hit, no-run ball.

The Wild Things’ only run came on a solo home run by Justin Garcia, his first, in the top of the second for a 1-0 lead. Matt Smith gave up six earned runs in 5 1/3 innings to take the loss.
