C-M opens dual season with win
Canon-McMillan won eight of the last nine bouts Wednesday to roll to a 49-21 win over Mt. Lebanon in a Class AAA bout in Section 4-A.
Jacob Gardner (106), Michael Binni (113), Tim Hritsko (138), Blaze Kansco (170) and Nathaniel Taylor (195) had pins for the Big Macs. Matt Oblock won by technical fall.
Shawn McKinney (120) and Turner Gray (160) had pins for the Blue Devils (4-2).
Washington 28, Avella 12: Washington opened its Class AA Section 1-A schedule with a 28-12 victory overt visiting Avella.
There were only four bouts contested and Washington picked up three wins via forfeit.
Zhiere Patman (152) won by technical fall for Washington. Dalton Simonelli (170), who won 22 bouts last year, and Randall Kidwell (heavyweight) accounted for all of Avella’s points with falls.
Beth-Center 45, Mapletown 30: Beth-Center won the final three weight classes and defeated Mapletown 45-30 in the Class AA Section 2-A opener.
Mapletown led 30-27 following a fall by Gavin Uphold (220) and a decision victory by heavyweight Tanner Weston. Beth-Center then picked up 12 points as Mapletown forfeited at 106 and 113 pounds and James Gwyer (120) closed the match with a fall for the Bulldogs.
Dylan Swarrow (138), Jacob Housel (145) and Jacob Baker (170) each had second-period falls for Beth-Center and Dominic Fundy (195) needed only 20 seconds to pin his opponent.
Brian Brady (132), Seth Shubert (152) and Brandon Smotzer (160) also won by fall for Mapletown.
Bentworth 60, West Greene 12: Bentworth scored team points in 10 weight classes and cruised to 60-12 victory over host West Greene.
Bryce Hook (113), Carter Riskey (152), Tristan Labishak (170) and Dom Daniels (heavyweight) each won by fall for Bentworth.
All of West Greene’s points came on pins, by Joey Chapman (132) and Colin Walker (160).
Chartiers-Houston 47 Fort Cherry 21: Chartiers-Houston used five forfeits and three pins to stop Fort Cherry 47-21 in a Section 1-A match in Class AA.
Jake Ognibene (152), R.J. Hall (182) and Don Greene (220) each won by fall for the Bucs. Nick Candelore (132) and Shane McIntire had pins for Fort Cherry.
Trinity 54, Pgh. Central Catholic 21: Trinity won all but four bouts on the way to a 54-21 win over Pittsburgh Central Catholic.
Kyle Gonzales (120), Danny Boardley (126), D.J. Long (132), Dante Cecchine (160), Jarred Rice (182), Zane Stock (195) and Dom Quature (220) had pins for the Hillers.
Dom Means (138) and Clarence Carlos (Hvy) had pins for PCC.
