Brooke Borich scored 16 points and Marietta held off a late charge by Washington & Jefferson to defeat the Presidents 66-62 in a non-conference women’s basketball game Tuesday afternoon at Henry Memorial Center.

Marietta (7-4) led 30-17 at halftime and increased its advantage to as many as 17 points late in the third quarter before W&J (5-3) put together a charge and closed to within two possession in the final minute.

W&J sophomore Danielle Parker pulled down 22 rebounds, which is the most by a player in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference this season and eighth-best total in NCAA Division III. Gibson, a Canon-McMillan graduate, had 15 rebounds in the first half.

The Presidents’ Amirah Moore tied for game scoring honors with 16 points that included 8-for-8 at the free-throw line. Taylor Cortazzo had 10 points.

Marietta’s bench outscored W&J’s 32-12 and the Pioneers held the Presidents to 33 percent shooting from the field.
