Malkin to miss 2 games with injury
PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin is dealing with a lower-body injury and will miss a two-game road trip this weekend.
Coach Mike Sullivan said Thursday Malkin, the team’s leading scorer, is dealing with a nagging issue. Malkin will remain in Pittsburgh while the surging Penguins visit Tampa Bay today and the Florida Panthers Saturday. The former MVP will be re-evaluated when the team returns. Pittsburgh hosts Anaheim Monday.
Malkin has 23 goals and 26 assists for the Penguins, who have won four straight to get back into playoff position.
Sullivan said center Eric Fehr will miss about a month with a “significant” lower-body injury suffered in the second period of a 6-5 victory over Ottawa Tuesday. Fehr missed 10 games earlier this year while recovering from offseason elbow surgery.
