Waynesburg men sink Thiel at the free throw line
Waynesburg 71, Thiel 64: Waynesburg made all 10 of its free-throw attempts in the final three minutes to seal a 71-64 win over Thiel in a PAC game at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
Thiel’s Luke Kochka’s jumper with 3:04 remaining cut the Yellow Jackets’ lead to one point, but B.J. Durham, who had a game-high 18 points, made a layup and had four free throws down the stretch to secure the win for Waynesburg (9-6, 9-13). Jon Knab added 15 points, while Kendall Paige and D.J. Ritchie both had 11.
The Yellow Jackets made 21 of 26 free throws and led 32-24 at halftime. The win pulls Waynesburg into a tie for third place with Thiel. Grove City, Bethany and Thomas More are all tied for second with a 10-5 record in conference play.
Leandra Jackson had a team-high 16 points, including 12 in the second half, for Thiel (9-6, 11-11).
Saint Vincent 101, Washington & Jefferson 57: Saint Vincent made 21 three-pointers and scored 60 points in the second half on its way to a 101-57 home win over Washington & Jefferson in a PAC game.
Ben Klimchock had a team-high 20 points off the bench for the Bearcats (13-2, 17-5), who shot 58.7 percent from the field, including 21 of 35 from three-point range. JC Howard added 18 points and Pat Jones 15.
The Presidents (1-14, 1-21) trailed 41-22 at halftime and 19 turnovers. Brian Graytok had 15 points, including five three-pointers, for W&J.
