WPIAL sets sites for Friday playoff games

The WPIAL has released the sites for its basketball quarterfinal games Friday night and Canon-McMillan will host a doubleheader involving local teams while the Big Macs’ girls team will return to action on a familiar court,

The Chartiers-Houston girls (17-6), who edged Washington Wednesday night, will play top-seeded Our Lady of Scared Heart (20-3) in a Class AA game at Canon-McMillan, Tip-off is 6:30 p.m. That game will be followed by a Class A boys contest. Top-seeded Monessen (20-3), coming off a demolition of Leechburg in the opening round, will play Union (12-10) at 8 p.m. Union advanced by eliminating California.

The Canon-McMillan girls (15-7), who defeated Fox Chapel for the program’s first playoff win Wednesday night, will play Penn Hills (21-2) in a Class AAAA game at Baldwin. Tip-off is 6:30 p.m. It will be the third time this season that C-M will play at Baldwin. The Big Macs played Baldwin in Section 4-AAAA competition and the playoff game against Fox Chapel also was played at Baldwin.

Sites for Saturday quarterfinal games will be released Friday by the WPIAL.
