Wild Things sign 12
The Washington Wild Things have started to assemble their roster for the 2016 Frontier League season, the first under manager Gregg Langbehn.
Washington re-signed eight players from last year’s team: pitchers Pat Dyer, Tyler Ferguson, Matt Fraudin, Jeremy Holcombe and Luke Wilkins, infielder Matt Peters, outfielder Cody Herald and catcher Eddie Sordono. Also signed were pitchers Sam Agnew-Wieland and Chase Cunningham, infielder Justin Fox and outfielder Ricky Rodriguez.
Agnew-Wieland and Cunningham were acquired last month in a trade with Lincoln of the American Association. Rodriguez was acquired in October as the player to be named in a trade with Amarillo. Fox played last year in the Frontier League with Rockford. He played college baseball at West Virginia.
Washington also announced that it placed Wilkins, who had a team-high eight wins and a 3.31 ERA, has been placed on the 60-day disabled list and that outfielder Danny Poma has been placed on the retired list. Poma played two seasons in Washington and hit .308 with 30 stolen bases in 2014.
