Trinity finishes with flurry, pins down win

Consecutive pins by Mike Kolosky (120), D.J. Long (126) and Toney Stedman (132) to close the match gave Trinity a 41-24 come-from-behind win over Moon in a Class AAA Section 4-A match Wednesday night on the Hillers’ mats.

Moon (1-2, 5-3) led 24-23 after a pin by 113-pounder John Rocokazalas – it was the Tigers’ fourth consecutive bout win – but Kolosky’s fall in 4:34 put Trinity (2-2, 3-2) in the lead for good. Long clinched the win for the Hillers when he pinned his opponent in three minutes, and Stedman finished the Hillers’ streak with a first-period fall.

Jared Rice (170) and Justin Ritter (182) also had pins for Trinity and Ryan Yocum (138) started the match with a 16-1 technical fall.

Chartiers-Houston 45, Avella 19: Chartiers-Houston swept the light weights and combined those win with two forfeits to defeat visiting Avellal 45-19 in a Class AA Section 1A match.

The win improves Chartiers-Houston 3-1, both in section matches and overall. Avella is 0-3, 2-6.

Josh Kuslock (138) opened the match with a first-period fall for Chartiers-Houston. Three bouts later, Drew Geary matched Kuslock with a first-period pin.

Avella tied the score at 6-6 when Lukle Loyd (145) won by fall. Randall Kidwell (220) also had a pinf or the Eagles.

C-H closed the match with four forfeit wins.

Burgettstown 42, Ellwood City 19: Burgettstown won eight of the 12 contested bouts to defeat Elwood City, 42-19, in a Section 1-B dual meet in Class AA.

The Blue Devils (4-0, 4-0) took a quick 24-0 lead before the Wolverines (2-3, 6-9) won three consecutive bouts. PJ Smith (113) and Colin Finch (heavyweight) won by decision for Burgettstown, which benefitted from four forfeits.

Tyler Alberts (126) and Christian Kerr (160) got pins for Ellwood City.

McGuffey 63, Mapletown 15: McGuffey got four pins and won 11 of 14 bouts on its way to a 63-15 win over Mapletown in a Section 2-A dual meet in Class AA.

The Highlanders (4-0, 9-2), who remain in first place, got pins from Jeffrey McConn (145), Christian Clutter (152), Dillon Richey (160) and Connor Thompson (182).

Seth Subert won by decision and Tanner Weston had a pin for the Maples (2-2, 9-9).

Peters Township 60, Bethel Park 17: Peters Township won 11 of 14 bouts on its way to a 60-17 win over Bethel Park in a Section 2-B dual meet in Class AAA.

Jordan Marose (106) and Jake Hurley (138) had pins, while Colton Jezioro (126) and AJ Buckiso (152) won by decision for the Indians (4-0, 5-1), who remain in first place in the subsection and received seven forfeits.

Ben Yantek (132) won by technical fall for the Black Hawks (1-3, 3-6).

South Fayette 67, Fort Cherry 7: South Fayette got six pins and won the first nine bouts to defeat Fort Cherry, 67-7, in a Section 1-A dual meet in Class AA.

Colin Dunn (106), Shane Ging (138), Mike Carr (145), Ben Previte (160), Christian Dedi (170) and Rasaun Culberson (heavyweight) got pins for the Lions (4-0, 12-4).

Hunter Fry (113) and Nick Candelore (129) got wins for the Rangers (2-2, 4-5).
