Girls basketball: Trinity pushed to overtime but wins at Keystone Oaks
Trinity won its eighth consecutive game Friday night, but this one took a little more time and effort than the others.
Mary Dunn made a free throw with three seconds left in regulation to force overtime, and Sierra Kotchman made a game-clinching runner with second left in the extra session as the Hillers edged host Keystone Oaks 47-43.
Trinity (6-1, 12-2) led 27-21 at halftime and 34-29 after three quarters before Keystone Oaks made a late push and had the lead in the final minute of regulation.
Kotchman finished with 15 points and Dunn had 14 to pace Trinity’s offense. Gillian Piccolini scored a game-high 17 points for KO (3-4, 6-8), which lost its fourth in a row.
Monessen 37, Carmichaels 34: Maqula Green made two free throws with 3.5 seconds remaining to help Monessen secure a 37-34 win over Carmichaels in a non-section win at home.
Natalia Holmes led the Greyhounds (2-13), who made just 11 of 28 free throws, with 12 points. Monessen outscored the Mikes, 18-9, in the fourth quarter. Kristina Aeschbacher had 13 points for Carmichaels (4-11).
