Edinboro knocks off California
Five players scored in double figures to lead Edinboro to an 89-79 win over California in a PSAC West game.
Edinboro moved to 9-4 in the conference and 10-6 overall. Cal fell to 4-9 in the conference and 7-12 overall.
Henri Wade-Chatman had 24 points to pace Edinboro. Jay Mason had 19 points, Tommy Scales 14, and Michael Beck and Ja’Land Head each added 10 apiece.
Richard Smith scored 24 points, including 11 of 12 from the free throw line, for Cal. Luka Andjusic added 18 and Khalil Jabbie 16.
Waynesburg 84, Geneva 47: D.J. Ritchie had a double-double to help Waynesburg rout Geneva, 84-47, in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference game.
Waynesburg pushed its record to 3-5 in the conference and 3-12 overall. Geneva fell to 2-6 in the PAC and 2-13 overall.
Ritchie had 14 points and 11 rebounds. B.J. Durham added 13 points and Christian Koroloy 11 for Waynesburg.
Ethan Adamczyk chipped in with 16 and Chase Vaudrin managed 13 for Geneva.
Westminster 68, Wash & Jeff 56: Jason Pilarski led an even offensive effort to pace Westminster to a 68-56 win over Washington & Jefferson in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference game.
Westminster advanced to 4-5 in the conference and 4-12 overall. W&J is 0-9 in the PaC and 0-16 overall.
Pilarski scored 16 points and was one of four players in double figures.
Gianni Buarne led W&J with 14 points. Brian Graytok and Joe Satira had 10 apiece.
Wash & Jeff 83, Westminster 55: Amirah Moore led a balanced offensive attack and Washington & Jefferson bolted out to a big first quarter lead on the way to routing Westminster, 83-55, in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference game.
The Presidents moved to 8-1 in the conference and 13-3 overall. Westminster fell to 1-8 in the conference and 1-15 overall. The Titans have lost four straight games.
Moore scored eight of her 14 points in the first quarter, when W&J built a 28-13 lead over the Titans.
Kate Wilson added 11 points for W&J, which used 15 players in the game and had all but one score. Danielle Parker had nine points and four steals, Ashley Mikelonis had eight points and Rachel Bellhy had seven points, five rebounds and two blocks.
Kristine Fromknecht led Westminster with a game-high 14 points. Kendall Dickson added 12 points with eight rebounds and Kylie Cook scored 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Waynesburg 71, Geneva 63: Three players scored in double figures and Waynesburg built a 14-point halftime lead with a strong second quarter during a 71-63 victory over Geneva in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference game.
Waynesburg advanced to 6-2 in the conference and 8-7 overall. Geneva fell to 4-4 in the conference and 7-8 overall.
Addy Knetzer had a double-double for Waynesburg with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Katie Gehlmann also had a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Kassidy O’Keefe finished with 13 points and six rebounds.
Geneva’s Heidi Mann led all scorers with 23 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Jodie Carlson scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Edinboro 73, California 54: Aignee Freeland had a double-double, 26 points and 13 rebounds, to power Edinboro to a 73-54 victory over California in a PSAC West Division game. The win moves Edinboro to 7-5 in the conference and 12-6 overall. California fell to 9-3 in the conference and 11-4 overall.
Edinboro stretched the first-half lead to as many as 11 points, 36-25, before taking a 37-29 lead at the break. Edinboro closed the game on a 17-2 run after limiting Cal to only one field goal in six-plus minutes.
Edinboro had two big runs, a 27-15 edge in the second quarter and a 19-8 edge in the final 10 minuts.
Katie Fischer had 15 points and Whitney Allen 13 rebounds for Edinboro.
Precious Martin tossed in 16 points and Miki Glenn added 15 for the Vulcans, who were outrebounded 44-27.
