Women’s basketball: Moss scores 41 as Thomas More beats Waynesburg, 119-80
Sydney Moss, the two-time NCAA Division III Player of the Year, scored 41 points and No. 1-ranked and defending national champion Thomas More outgunned host Waynesburg 119-80, in a PAC game.
Moss scored 32 first-half points, making nine of 11 shots from three-point range, as Thomas More (10-0, 16-0) raced to a 64-43 lead by halftime. Moss finished 15 of 23 from the field and had eight rebounds and three steals.
Moss sat out five games early this season while the NCAA checked a compliance issue. The NCAA eventually cleared Moss to play and the senior is averaging 20.3 points in 11 games.
Thomas More had only three players in double figures. Abby Owings scored 17 points and had seven assists, and Nikki Kiernan had 12 points and 11 rebounds. The Saints made 14 of 33 three-point attempts.
Waynesburg (7-3, 9-8) had its five-game winning streak snapped. The Yellow Jackets received 19 points from Addy Knetzer and 11 from Heather Davis.
