Rebellion let one get away
ORLANDO, Fla. – The National Pro Fastpitch-leading USSSA Pride scored seven runs, including three on a single by Shelby Pendley, in the bottom of the sixth inning and rallied to beat the Pennsylvania Rebellion, 10-7, Friday night at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex.
USSSA overcame a six-run deficit by scoring single runs in the fourth and fifth innings and then taking the lead with the big sixth.
Cheyenne Cordres hit a two-run homer during the Rebellion’s six-run fourth inning, which ended with Pennsylvania leading 7-1. Brittany Gomez scored two runs and drove in two others with a double in the fourth. Lindsey Stephens had three hits including two doubles for the Rebellion.
Chelsea Goodrace was 3-for-3 with three RBI for the Pride, who won two of the three games in the series.
The Rebellion’s Emily Weiman pitched into the fifth inning and was followed by Hayley Wagner, who gave up five runs in 1 1/3 innings.
Winning pitcher Jordan Taylor threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, allowing only one hit with six strikeouts.
