MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Monica Abbott pitched a shutout on her 31st birthday as the Houston Scrap Yard Dawgs blanked the Pennsylvania Rebellion, 3-0, Thursday night at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelican Park.

Houston gave Abbott the only offense she would need in the first inning when it pushed across two runs against Rebellion starter Dallas Escobedo. Amanda Fama had a two-run single.

The Scrap Yard Dawgs made it 3-0 in the third when Madison Shipman’s squeeze bunt scored Kiki Stokes.

The Rebellion made it interesting in the seventh inning as they loaded the bases but were unable to score against Abbott, a former Olympian who signed a six-year, $1 million contract with the Scrap Yard Dawgs prior to this season.
