Lexi Elkins drove in two runs and Stacey’s Porter’s sixth-inning single scored Whitney Arion with the go-ahead run as the Pennsylvania Rebellion defeated the Chicago Bandits 5-3 Saturday night at Consol Energy Park.

The game was delayed 55 minutes because of rain during the third inning.

The Rebellion led 3-1 at the time of the delay. Chicago tied the score in the top of the sixth on a home run by Taylor Edwards.

In the bottom of the sixth, Arion was hit by a pitch, advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Victoria Hayward and moved to third base on a single by Olivia Watkins. Porter’s single drove in Arion and gave the Rebellion a 4-3 lead. Watkins would score on a throwing error to make it 5-3.

Elkins, the first pick in the National Pro Fastpitch draft this year, had a two-run single in the first inning that gave the Rebellion a 2-1 lead. Hayward scored on a wild pitch in the second inning to make it 3-1.

Rebellion starting pitcher Emily Weiman pitched three innings and combined with relievers Dallas Escobedo and Haylie Wagner to scatter 11 Chicago hits. The Bandits left 10 runners on base.

The teams meet in the series final Sunday (2 p.m.).
