Racers fly by Rebellion

AKRON – Jennifer Gilbert hit a pair of home runs, driving in five, as the Akron Racers topped the Pennsylvania Rebellion, 10-2, Wednesday night in an NPF game.

Kelley Montalvo also homered for Akron (2-1), which scored six runs in the first inning and four in the fifth.

Emily Weiman allowed all six runs in the first inning, recording just one out. Dallas Escobedo entered in relief and went four innings, allowing four runs for the Rebellion (3-5).

Pennsylvania scored its two runs in the top of the seventh on home runs by by Courtney Senas and Mandy Ogle.

Jailyn Ford pitched five scoreless innings to get the win for the Racers.
