AKRON – A three-run fourth inning wiped out an early lead by the Rebellion and sparked Akron to a 5-3 victory in an NPF softball league game Thursday.

Alex Hugo drove in two runs with a double in the key fourth inning rally that erased a 2-1 lead by the Rebellion. The third run scored on an error.

Shellie Robinson’s sacrifice fly in the first drove in a run to give Akron a 1-0 lead. But the Rebellion scored a run in each of the next two innings. Mandy Ogle’s groundout scored Lexie Elkins in the second and Whitney Arion led off with a home run in the third.

Lindsey Stephens hit a solo home run in the fifth to cut Akron’s lead to 4-3 but Kelly Montalvo led off the bottom of the inning with a walk and came around to score on an error to put the game out of reach.
