Rebellion swept by Racers in 3-game series

AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Racers scored seven runs in the first two innings and held off the Pennsylvania Rebellion, 10-6, Friday night to complete a sweep of the three-game National Pro Fastpitch softball series.

Akron took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning but the Rebellion scored four times in the top of the second. Kayla Winkfield hit a three-run homer in the second for the Rebellion. Winkfield was 3-for-3.

Akron answered with five runs in the bottom of the second.

Sam Fisher was 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI for the Racers.

Rebellion starting pitcher Emma Johnson gave up seven runs (two earned) in 1 2/3 innings.

The Rebellion begin a three-game series against the defending NPF champion Chicago Bandits tonight at Consol Energy Park.
