CHICAGO – The banged-up Pittsburgh Pirates have called up catcher Jacob Stallings from Triple-A Indianapolis.

The son of new University of Pittsburgh basketball coach Kevin Stallings joined a major league roster for the first time before Sunday night’s game against the Chicago Cubs. He replaced infielder Jason Rogers, who was optioned to Indianapolis.

The Pirates are dealing with multiple injuries at catcher. Francisco Cervelli is recovering from a broken left hand and Elias Diaz is out following elbow surgery.

Chris Stewart has been unavailable for much of the past two days with general soreness.

Kevin Stallings left Vanderbilt to join Pittsburgh earlier this year.
