Haar hits pair of homers in Wild Things win
TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – Second baseman Bryan Haar hit two home runs, including a pivotal three-run shot in the seventh inning, and the Wild Things rallied for a 6-4 victory over the Traverse City Beach Bums at Wuerfel Park Wednesday night.
Haar hit a solo homer in the first inning and the three-run shot, his ninth of the year, that gave Washington a 5-4 lead.
Wild Things pitchers Brian O’Keefe (1-0) and Zac Grotz combined for four scoreless innings in support of starter Trevor Foss, who had his streak of five consecutive complete games end. Foss gave up four runs (three earned) on seven hits in five innings.
Grotz got the final six outs for his seventh save of the season and second in as many nights.
Washington scored an insurance run in the eighth inning when Grant Fink raced home from third base during a fielder’s choice. Jimmy Yezzo hit a run-scoring double in the second inning. Austin Wobrock had three of Washington’s 12 hits.
