Akron topples Rebellion

AKRON, Ohio – Sami Fagan hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to help send the Akron Racers past the Pennsylvania Rebellion, 5-1, in a National Pro Fastpitch softball league game Tuesday at Firestone Stadium.

The Rebellion (7-12) lost their fourth consecutive game while Akron (10-8) stopped a three-game losing streak.

A.J. Andrews hit a solo home run in the third and Griffin Joiner had an RBI single in the fourth to give Akron a 2-0 lead. The Rebellion cut it to 2-1 on an RBI single by Alisa Goler in the top of the fifth.

Sarah Pauley, a former Rebellion player, gave up nine hits but only one unearned run.
