Akron tops Rebellion in eighth

AKRON – Sam Fischer hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning as Akron beat the Pennsylvania Rebellion, 5-3, in a NPF game Wednesday night at Firestone Stadium.

Fischer’s home run came after Whitney Arion hit a solo shot in the top of the eighth to give the Rebellion (7-15) a 3-2 advantage in the top of the eighth.

Lexi Elkins homered for the Rebellion, while Mirando Kramer took the loss, allowing seven hits, striking out 10 in 7 1/3 innings.

Taylor Schlopy and Ashley Thomas also homered for Akron (11-8). Jailyn Ford got the win, allowing six hits in eight innings.
