4-run fourth sparks Canon-McMillan win
Canon-McMillan took advantage of two Bethel Park errors to spark a four-run fourth inning and held on for a 5-4 win over the Black Hawks in a Section 4-AAAA game.
Back-to-back errors in the fourth allowed Kirsten Rush to score the tying run for the first-place Big Macs (8-1, 13-2). Kylah Kubiczki, who went 2-for-3 in the leadoff spot, delivered an RBI single and Kayla Hopkins hit a two-run double for the three-run lead.
Bethel Park (6-4, 10-5) got two runs in the top of the seventh, but Abbi Michelucci got a fly out to end the game. Linda Rush hit a solo homer and walked twice for C-M.
McGuffey 5, Charleroi 0:
Carae Wagner drove in two runs to help McGuffey to a 5-0 victory over Charleroi in a Section 2-AA
Wagner went 3-for-3 and had a double for the Highlanders (10-0, 12-0). Morgan Riley tripled for Charleroi (2-8, 4-8).
Waynesburg 14, Beth-Center 1: Waynesburg blew open a close game in the top of the seventh, erupting for 10 runs in a 14-1 Section 2-AA win over Beth-Center to move into a thre-way tie with Bentworth and Carmichaels for second play in the section.
Rachel Elsenheimer had two triples and a double for Waynesburg (7-3, 7-9), while Brooke Meek had a double and triple. Winning pitcher Taylor Staley also tripled, as did Tara Staley, while Tiffany Ross double.
Abby Gustovich took a loss for Beth-Center (1-9, 1-10).
Carmichaels 15, Mapletown 1: Natalie McNett had a pair of doubles and Carmichaels had 19 hits in a 15-1, five-inning win over Mapletown in a non-section game.
Winning pitcher Laura Walker also tripled, while Gina Ranieri doubled for the Mikes (7-3, 10-4).
Elisa Clark and losing pitcher Abby McIntyre both doubled for Mapletown (4-10).
South Fayette 5, Chartiers-Houston 3: Marissa France had three hits, including a double and triple, and scored two runs as South Fayette edged Chartiers-Houston, 5-3, in a non-section game.
Emily Bryan and Delaney Ging also tripled for the Lions (13-3) to back the pitching of Beth Kormick.
Macie Kesneck tripled, while Kasey Scears and losing pitcher Kaitlyn Dittrich both doubled for Char-Houston (9-6).
