Softball: Bentworth moves closer to playoff berth

Abby Gustovich threw a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts Wednesday and also had three hits, including a pair of doubles, as Bentworth defeated Beth-Center, 8-2, in a Section 2-AA game.

Audrey Yates, Mikayla Danley and Autumn Zgorliski also doubled for the Bearcats (9-3, 12-4), who can clinch a playoff spot with another victory.

Alayna Mickeloff homered, while Abby Gustovich took the loss for B-C (1-10, 1-11).

• Scarlet Stein threw a two-hitter as Jeannette defeated California, 8-1, in a Section 2-A game.

Karen Watkins had both hits for the Trojans (2-7, 4-9). Jeannette is 4-4, 4-6.
