The Washington & Jefferson College football team will travel to Italy in May for international competition against the Ancona Dolphins.

The Presidents will depart May 22 and return home June 1.

In Rome, the Presidents will take a walking tour of the “Eternal City,” including sites like the Pantheon and Roman Colosseum.

On May 24 and 25, the Presidents will stay in the Tuscany region in Siena, Montecatini Terme and Florence. The team will practice May 26 before departing for Bologna and a trip to the Ferrari Museum in Maranello. The team will go to San Marino and on to Ancona for the May 29 game.

The Dolphins compete in the Italian Football League Division I, as well as the Italian Federation of American Football.

The day after the game, the Presidents will tour Vatican City and visit the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica.

Forty-five members of the W&J team plus coaches, trainers and staff will make the trip.

The NCAA allows members to participate in foreign tours for each sport once every three years.

W&J opens 2016 regular season at Cameron Stadium Sept. 3 against Wooster.
