SAUGET, Ill. – Gateway hit three home runs Saturday night and rolled to a 10-3 victory over the Wild Things.

It was the first time Gateway has defeated Washington at GCS Ballpark since 2013. The Wild Things had won seven in a row at the Grizzlies’ ballpark.

Bryan Haar drove in all three runs for the Wild Things, two on a home run in the eighth inning.

After Washington took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning, Gateway scored 10 unanswered runs. The Grizzlies tied the score at 1-1 in the third, and Craig Massoni capped a four-run fourth inning with a two-run homer. Massoni was in spring training with the Wild Things in 2015 but was released before playing in a regular-season game.

Brandon Thomas and Vincent Guglietti also homered for Gateway.

Gateway starter Will Landsheft (1-0) allowed only three hits and one run over six innings.

Conner Kendrick (0-1) gave up five hits, four walks and five runs in 3 2/3 innings.

Washington won the Frontier League season opener Friday night over the Grizzlies, 4-3. In both games, the Wild Things were held to only four hits.
