Rebellion lose NPF season opener

Cassie Tysarczyk hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning and the Akron Racers defeated the Pennsyvania Rebellion 9-3 Tuesday night in the National ProFastpitch season opener in York.

Tysarczyk’s homer capped Akron’s four-run sixth. The Racers broke a 3-3 tie by scoring on a fielder’s choice before Tysarczyk’s homer.

The Rebellion took a 3-2 lead in the third inning as Lindsey Stephens hit a two-run homer.

The Rebellion’s first run scored on a single by Whitney Arion.

Emily Weiman, the second of four Rebellion pitchers, took the loss.

Taylor Schlopy, Shellie Robinson and Kelly Montalvo also hit home runs for Akron.
