MARS – Dalton Holt’s interception with under three minutes to play helped seal Ringgold’s stunning come-from-behind win over host Mars Friday night in the opening round of the WPIAL Class AAAA football playoffs.

Trailing 28-21 at the half and 31-28 after three quarters, sixth-seeded Ringgold got a touchdown pass from George Martin to Easton Fine with 9:17 remaining to take a 35-31 lead.

Martin then scored his second rushing touchdown with 5:27 remaining in the game to put the Rams (8-2) ahead 42-31.

Mars had knocked Ringgold out of the playoffs in last year’s opening round.

Ringgold advances to the semifinals to face New Castle, an upset winner over South Fayette, next Friday at a site and time to be determined.
