Saint Vincent handles Waynesburg

LATROBE – Shavonta Craft ran for two touchdowns, Derek Stewart passed for 284 yards and two scores and Saint Vincent defeated Waynesburg, 30-12, in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference football game Saturday afternoon at Chuck Noll Field.

Stewart threw touchdown passes of seven yards to Damon Black Jr. and 53 yards to D.J. Oceant-Kelly, the latter coming in the final minute of the third quarter to give Saint Vincent (3-4, 5-4) a 23-6 lead.

Craft had scoring runs of one and 14 yards. The one-yard plunge came late in the first half and was set up by a 24-yard pass completion by kicker Sam Elliott on a fake field goal.

Waynesburg (2-5, 2-7) trailed 16-3 at halftime. The Yellow Jackets’ Mike Ryhal kicked field goals of 22 and 28 yards. A seven-yard touchdown pass from A.J. Jenkins to Ta’Vaughn Johnson cut Saint Vincent’s lead to 23-12 with 6:59 remaining. Craft then sealed the win for the Bearcats with his 14-yard TD run with 2:34 to play.

Waynesburg used two quarterbacks. Tyler Perone completed 16 of 32 yards for 208 yards but was intercepted twice. Jenkins was 5 of 11 for 52 yards and was Waynesburg’s leading rusher with 64 yards on 12 carries.

Waynesburg ends its season next Saturday at home against Washington & Jefferson.
