Jackets lose despite big game by Knetzer
ERIE – Bluffton closed the game on a 21-11 run erasing a third-quarter deficit to defeat Waynesburg, 64-56, Friday night at the Penn State Behrend women’s basketball tournament.
Macey Sheerer scored 17 points, while Rechel Beining had 16 points and nine rebounds for Blufton (0-1), which trailed 45-43 entering the fourth quarter.
Chartiers-Houston graduate Addy Knetzer scored 20 points and had 20 rebounds for Waynesburg (1-1). Seven of Knetzer’s rebounds came on the offensive end.
But the Yellow Jackets made just five trips to the foul line, taking 23 three-pointers compared to five for Blufton. Blufton, however, made 25 of 31 free throws.
Cassidy O’Keefe added 12 points for Waynesburg in the losing effort.
