W&J gets 30 from Graytok, still loses
Marcus Dempsey scored 21 points and had five assists as Muskingum defeated Washington & Jefferson, 86-77, in a non-conference college men’s basketball game Saturday.
Dempsey’s output offset a career-best game for W&J’s Brian Graytok. The junior scored 21 of his career-high 30 points in the second half, adding five rebounds and three steals to help the Presidents (0-4) cut the Muskies’ lead to 75-73 late in the game before Muskingum closed the game out on an 11-4 run.
Joshua Keyes added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Muskies (2-0), while Jarrell Marsh had 13 and Devon Peart had 12 in the winning effort.
Brian Lindquist had 15 points, while Christian Rohaus added 10 for the Presidents.
Rochester 83, Waynesburg 57: Mack Montague scored 16 of his game-high 29 points in the decisive first half as Rochester rolled to a 46-20 lead en route to an 83-57 non-conference win over Waynesburg.
Sam Borst-Smith added 17 points, while Zack Ayers had 13 points and eight rebounds for Rochester (5-0), which made 12 of 30 three-pointers in the game.
Jon Knab led Waynesburg (1-2) with 12 points, while Brennan Smith paced the Yellow Jackets with seven rebounds.
